Spring and summer are the most popular seasons for house hunting. If you are starting your property search this summer there are a few things to think about. The most being that the warmer months do not last very long in this country! You might love the big windows and cool rooms within the summer months but how much will you love the draft in winter?

Once you find a property that you like it is important to view it at different times of the day. This will help you see the different levels of natural light. It will also give you an idea of the neighbourhood in the evening.

The rooms may be cool in summer but are they double glazed for the cooler months and are the lofts insulated? How old is the boiler, is it going to last another winter?

Damp can be very evident in properties in the winter months and hard to spot in summer and drier periods. It is recommended that you have a comprehensive survey to reduce the risk that you have missed any signs.

It is not only the inside of the property you have to consider in the winter but the gardens too. Are you paying a premium for the landscaped garden with the added bonus of a summer house? You must remember you will only realistically want to use this space a number of months a year.

Something else to consider is the maintenance costs of a property. Are the external walls painted? Will they need to be repainted each year to cope with the harsh winter conditions? Are there any exposed pipes that could freeze within the winter months?

We have chosen MNDA (Motor Neurone Disease Association) as our charity as we have family connections to the charity and will be raising money in memory of Brigadier John Robert Heath. Our first fundraiser will be in May when Harriet Stephens, Gemma Heath and Yasmine Gotts will be taking part in a 5km run through Regents Park dressed as Superheroes! Later in the year Mike Heath will be taking part in Tough Mudder – A hardcore 10-12 mile obstacle course designed by Special Forces to test your all round stamina, determination and camaraderie.

Fundraising For Charity

Kings Royal Tunbridge Wells have chosen to support a charity this year and will be carrying out fundraising events to raise money.

We have created a JustGiving page: http://www.justgiving.com/kingstunbridgewells where all donations are welcome.

We will keep you updated with our fundraising progress and photos for our activities throughout the year.

Thank you for your support.

What is Motor Neurone Disease (MND)?

It is a devastating, fatal disease for which there is no cure. Many people living with MND and their families find that fundraising empowers them to fight back and maintain positivity at a very difficult time. This is why we are so keen to get involved in fundraising activities.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
